What is Yessethiopia and its objective?

Youth and education support service Ethiopia or YessEthiopia is a non-profit organization established on May 27, 2020 to support national initiatives aimed at education quality and unemployment of University graduates. It is known that Ethiopia has huge potential of young manpower, even if published data is not easily available it is estimated that about 65% (majority from rural origin) of the educated youth are not employed. Thus, it is very important to conduct innovative initiatives jointly and across sectors to address the problem of youth unemployment and to help the country out of poverty. Listed below are some of the key actions which can be started as pilot projects so that evidences and experiences can be generated nationally.

Objectives

  • Reward and motivate students at all levels using mix of methods and indicators
  • Support students from needy families through within country scholarships and student jobs etc
  • Support graduates and youth to get jobs or start own jobs
  • Facilitate motivating and experience sharing between successful scholars and people with exemplary experiences as model for students and youth
  • Facilitate internships, volunteer jobs and different exchange tours for students
  • Facilitate community engagement for students and the youth
  • Support WASH and food access in schools and the community by targeting needy families and their children
  • Promote Ethiopian indigenous values, culture, food, natural resources and model personalities
  • Promote the culture of reading books and creativity among students and youth
